Vietnam War Aircraft photo encyclopedia. Fighters, bombers, helicopters, Aircraft carriers. The Vietnam War was a Cold War-era military conflict that occurred in Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia from 1 November 1955 to the fall of Saigon on 30 April 1975. This war followed the First Indochina War and was fought between North Vietnam, supported by its communist allies, and the government of South Vietnam, supported by the United States and other anti-communist countries. The Viet Cong (also known as the National Liberation Front, or NLF), a lightly armed South Vietnamese communist common front directed by the North, largely fought a guerrilla war against anti-communist forces in the region. The Vietnam People's Army (North Vietnamese Army) engaged in a more conventional war, at times committing large units into battle. U.S. and South Vietnamese forces relied on air superiority and overwhelming firepower to conduct search and destroy operations, involving ground forces, artillery, and airstrikes.Vietnam War Aircraft including:Northrop F-5C Freedom Fighters refuelingLing-Temco-Vought A-7A-4a-CV CorsairFour McDonnell F-4C PhantomMcDonnell Douglas TA-4F SkyhawkBoeing B-52F-65-BW StratofortressCH-53A Sea StallionUSS ForrestalDouglas A-1J SkyraiderGrumman A-6C IntruderBell UH-1E HueyUC-123B ProviderUH-1DMartin B-57BSikorsky HH-53EMartin SP-5B MarlinVought A-7A CorsairDouglas A-4E SkyhawkSikorsky SH-3A Sea KingNorth American F-100D-30-NA Super SabreBristol FreighterFairchild C-123K ProviderCH-54 SkycraneGrumman F9F-2 PantherDouglas RB-66B-DL DestroyerUSS carrier USS Intrepid (CV-11) and an A-12 Blackbirdde Havilland Canada DHC-5Douglas EF-10B SkyknightLockheed C-130A HerculesGrumman E-1B TracersGeneral Dynamics F-111AsCessna 0-1E Bird DogLockheed EC-121D Warning StarAircraft carrier USS RangerLockheed P-3A-50-LO OrionRepublic F-105D ThunderchiefGrumman EA-6A IntruderLockheed YF-12AOV-1 MohawkAircraft carrier USS Intrepid (CVS-11)Nortrop F-5C Freedom FighterLockheed C-130B/E HerculesAttack aircraft carrier USS Oriskany (CVA-34)Aircraft carrier USS Coral Sea (CVA-43)Lockheed OP-2E NeptuneNissile cruiser USS Long Beach (CGN-9)McDonnell RF-101CDouglas VC-118B LiftmasterQU-22Kaman HH-2C SeaspriteLing-Temco-Vought A-7B CorsairBoeing KC-135A StratotankerBoeing B-52D-35-BW StratofortressVought F-8E CrusaderAircraft carrier USS Bon Homme RichardF-105 ThunderchiefAircraft carriers USS OriskanyDe Havilland C-7B CaribouCessna O-2A-CE Super SkymasterDouglas EKA-3B SkywarriorAircraft carrier USS Franklin D.
