To date USAJobs is still one of the best places to find federal employment. On August of 2011, I created the first USAJobs unofficial app to fill in the gap for android users. I just could not idle sit by knowing that android users had no application, that and the fact I wanted to learn how to develop a mobile application. The USAJobs Unofficial app was born. There were many growing pains and I struggled to deal with responsiveness and errors. I remember both the positive and negative feedback, and most of all how proud I felt that so many people were using the unofficial application. I actually used three of the feedback I received on my resume for a job I applied for (I got the job)!The official app released at a time when the growing pains had eased and the unofficial app began to flourish. I debated whether user would still use the unofficial app. Since I was getting many request for new features and support I decided to keep the development going.I begin working on an unofficial version 2.0 for a future release. Taking the lessons I have learned and the popular request features I wanted to give something to the loyal users.On December of 2013, I removed the USAJobs Unofficial app from the play store due to real life and technical issues. Without going into much detail, I have had my primary computer in storage since that time, and without it, I am unable to update the app.In November of 2014 I decided to start working a completely new redesigned unofficial application. Having a year plus of solid programming experience, many things made more sense to me. I was able to learn from previous mistakes and I really wanted to offer an alternative to the official app as I find it not very user friendly.This current version of the USAJobs application (v2) is more of an enhancement of the website. I took care to allow the user to be able to switch between their phone/tablet to the website and vice-versa. An example is that you can save a job through the application, and when you login to the website, you can view that job you saved. Streamline the entire process while trying to make it user friendly, both functionality and visibly.The new app should be more responsive than the previous version by informing the user of what is going on.
